Applicant Day

What is an Applicant Day?

Applicant Days offer the opportunity to visit after submitting an application. They are designed to enable you to find out everything you need to help with your decision: your chance to spend time with subject tutors in your department, as well as exploring the wider University, accommodation and our support services. You will be invited to an Applicant Day if you receive an offer for a place on one of our undergraduate courses not requiring an interview.

What times do Applicant Days start and finish?

The Applicant Day start and finish times vary depending on which subject you have applied for, and which event you are attending. The start times are detailed on the list of dates available for your chosen subject(s). There are also timetables available on the Applicant Day webpage for your subject selection, which will help with planning your day.

How do I cancel my booking?

If you are no longer able to attend, please contact us on 01244 512800 or and let us know that you wish to cancel your booking, along with the email address you used to book.

I have booked onto an Applicant Day but can no longer make that date, although I would like to attend another Applicant Day. How do I change the date of my booking?

If you wish to change your Applicant Day booking date, please contact us on 01244 512800 or with details of which dates you wish to change from and to.

When I booked my Applicant Day ticket I had selected the wrong subject. Is there any way of changing the subject on my booking?

We can change your subject for you. Please email us at or call 01244 512800 and we will be in touch to confirm the change.

What if I can't attend any of the Applicant Days for my chosen subject?

As an alternative to Applicant Days we offer campus tours. These are held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 2:30pm and Fridays at 2pm. To find out more and book onto a tour please visit our campus tour webpage - However, we do recommend that you visit on an Applicant Day, if possible, as you will have the opportunity to not only visit the campus but to find out more about your course, the facilities, student finance, accommodation and student life in general. Applicant Days also include an opportunity to speak to our student ambassadors who are available to answer any questions about life at the University of Chester.

When booking my place, should I include myself among the number of guests?

No, when we ask for the number of guests we want to know how many people you will be bringing along with you.

How do I change the number of guests on my booking?

It's not essential that the number of guests on your booking is precisely the same as the number that comes along on the day; we just ask so that we have an idea of overall attendance. However, if you wish to change the number of guests on your ticket please email and we can change this for you.

What if I have applied for a combined degree where one subject is based at Kingsway Campus and the other is based at the Parkgate Road Campus?

If you select both subjects from the drop-down list, you will be able to book onto an Applicant Day for both subject areas. You'll start the day at Kingsway Campus and visit your department there, before making your way to the Parkgate Road Campus.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

You may wish to bring a pen and paper so you can make notes during the Applicant Day, but otherwise there's nothinig specific that you need to bring.  We'll have a record of your booking if you notify us of your name at the registraton point on arrival, and you will be given a copy of the timetable on arrival too.

Is there parking available?

There is parking available at some of our campuses, while at others, parking is very limited (especially on weekdays).  Please refer to the FAQs on the Applicant Day webpage for your chosen subject selection to view campus-specific parking information.
