Applicant Day Checklist

Over the last few weeks we’ve enjoyed meeting applicants who have attended our Applicant Days. If you have an offer from Chester and haven’t visited yet, we’d love to see you! Don’t miss your chance to visit us, there’s only a few Applicant Days left.

There’s no better way to get a feel for what a university is like than to come and experience it for yourself. You may have already visited us at an Open Day, but have different questions or just want a more in-depth visit before making that all-important decision.

Applicant Days 2015

1. Book your place

To book your place on an Applicant Day, head to our Applicant Day pages. As we have different Applicant Days for Warrington and Chester-based courses, it’s important you book onto the right event. To make sure you book onto the right event just select your course from the drop down list and we’ll tell you which Applicant Day you should attend. If you can’t find your course have a look at our FAQs. We’re always happy to help if you need to contact us.

2. Plan your day

Once you’ve booked your place, use our Applicant Day pages to find all the information you need to plan your visit, including directions and tourist information. You can also view the timetable for the day in advance. Don't worry if this looks a little confusing - when you arrive at the Applicant Day, we’ll explain the day in full and there will be staff and students on hand to help you find your way around.

3. Do your research

The subject sessions at Applicant Days are your chance to really find out whether the course you’ve applied to at Chester is the one for you. During your session with your department, you’ll be able to get a better understanding of the course: the structure of the programme, what modules you’ll study, and how you’ll be assessed. It’s also a good idea to think about what makes the course at Chester different from those elsewhere – things like field trips and exchanges that might be on offer, the facilities you’ll have access to, and links with employers or subject-specific careers information. So do your research and come prepared to grill our academics and students on what you want to know!

4. Ask the experts

As well as meeting teaching staff, you’ll have the opportunity to speak to representatives from a range of support areas on a one-to-one basis, including student finance, accommodation, the Students’ Union, student support and guidance and our careers and employability team. So, if you have any questions or want more info about any aspect of student life, this is your chance to find out more.

And don’t forget the real experts – our students! There will be student ambassadors at the Applicant Day who will be happy to answer questions and tell you what it’s really like to be a student at Chester.

5. Explore!

Make sure you get a good look at our sites and facilities: as well as visiting your department you’ll be able to take a student-led campus tour and view examples of student accommodation. Don’t forget to check out the local area and head into Chester or Warrington too – there are lots of interesting ways to extend your visit and get a real feel for the place you could be calling home for the next few years.

Finally, if you have any queries about the Applicant Days don't hesitate to contact us at visitus@chester.ac.uk or 01244 512800.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
