Children’s Nursing at Chester: Where Will It Take You?

Our Children’s Nursing course at the University of Chester promotes a hands-on approach, with 50% spent out in practice in a wide variety of settings across Cheshire and the Wirral.

If you’d like to study Children’s Nursing with us, it’s worth thinking about where you’d consider for a placement in advance. If you’re invited to interview, you will be asked to select your practice placement choice on the day. If you’re successful, you will be assigned a placement in the offer you receive.

To help you understand the options, here’s some more information on where you could put your skills into practice.

Most of your placements will be based in one of our five key practice partner areas:

  • Countess of Chester Hospital
  • Warrington & Halton Hospital
  • Arrowe Park Hospital
  • Leighton Hospital
  • Macclesfield Hospital

We also offer community placements in these locations and some placement opportunities at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Each of the placement bases offers on-site educational facilities and the chance to improve your practical skills directly on wards and in clinics.

Countess of Chester Hospital

The city’s hospital is two miles from our Riverside Campus and about a 15-minute walk from our Parkgate Road Campus and accommodation.
