Development Week: Learn Something New and Develop Your Skills

It’s well known that these days, being a successful graduate is about so much more than simply getting a degree. In fact, the wealth of opportunities and extracurricular activities on offer to our students could almost be overwhelming!

Good news, then, that this week is Development Week; a week when you get a break from lectures and seminars and a chance to take part in activities designed to help improve your learning and employability.

Development Week is all about developing you into the very best you can be. Here’s a taste of how you could benefit from what’s on offer:

Improve Your Academic Skills

From effective critical reading and revision techniques, to improving referencing and brushing up on grammar and punctuation, there are lots of sessions aimed at helping you to hone your study skills.

Enhance Your Employability

Development Week offers a jam-packed schedule of sessions and is designed to enhance your employability – whether that’s application and interview advice, or workshops on communication and networking skills.

Attendance at Development Week events also gains you points towards our unique Chester Difference Award.

Enhance Your IT skills

During Development Week, you can undertake the internationally recognised EDCL qualification.

Leisure and Wellbeing

Development Week allows you to rejuvenate both body and mind! During the break in lectures, you can take full advantage of our sports and leisure facilities and classes, as well as attend wellbeing workshops. Plus the Students’ Union remains open as usual, so you can catch up with friends – whether that’s over a quiet coffee or on a big night out.
