Team Chester: All Together Better
It’s not just about the tennis here at the University of Chester. There are a number of ways you can get involved in sport. So if you’re a keen sporting enthusiast looking to develop your skills further, or a couch potato looking to take part in something at a recreational level, Team Chester can help.
We’re keen to provide all our students with sporting opportunities through our on-campus facilities, links with professionals and our fantastic support network. Our enthusiastic staff can help motivate and inspire you to achieve your goals, whether that’s to take you and your team to BUCS finals or to run the Chester Half Marathon.
You could be coaching, mentoring or volunteering in a number of sporting areas, whilst gaining nationally recognised coaching qualifications in a variety of different sports. And, thanks to our links with local sports clubs and National Governing Bodies (NGB’s), you could be training and competing in local and national leagues, as well as the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Leagues.
You can also get involved in the University’s Performance Focus Sports such as Hockey, Football and Rugby to name a few. As a member of these teams you’ll not only benefit from a discounted gym membership, but our Athlete Support Programme, which offers such things as specialist coaching, strength and conditioning support, nutritional support and guidance, and sports psychology education.
Excellent on-campus sporting facilities
We’ve also made investments in our sporting facilities to compliment the support on offer. So whether you’re studying at Warrington or Chester, you’ll have access to a wide range of brilliant, free to use facilities. These include a state of the art floodlit 3-pitch Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), a 25-metre five-lane swimming pool, astro turf pitches, grass pitches, large sports halls (which also provides courts for badminton, volleyball, and basketball), squash courts, tennis courts and athletics track.
We also have a Fitness Centre on both our Warrington and Parkgate Road campuses. Memberships for the Fitness Centres are competitively priced and include a wide range of fitness classes that are organised each month, and two personal training sessions a week for members.
Students’ Union sports clubs
