Introducing University Centre Shrewsbury

Located in the county of Shropshire, and close to the Welsh border, University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) only opened in September 2015, and has already established a personalised environment that’s friendly and supportive.

Founded by the University of Chester and Shropshire Council, UCS offers an attractive portfolio of courses ranging from Applied Psychology to English, Microbiology to Biochemistry and is distinct in its small, friendly and dedicated community. Students really count and their influence is reflected in all aspects of learning, teaching and student life.

Guildhall, our main teaching and learning space is nestled on the banks of Frankwell Quay, right in the curl of the River Severn, and is just a ten minute walk from the bustling town centre of Shrewsbury. The building currently houses all of our lecture rooms, staff offices, Students’ Union, library, student common room and IT suites, so everything is in easy reach. Renovated to welcome our first cohort of students, Guildhall offers attractive learning areas and modern facilities for all to enjoy.

Mardol House, where our students’ hall of residence is located, is also in its first year of opening and benefits from a fantastic town centre location - amongst the jumbled streetscape of Shrewsbury’s black and white Tudor buildings and red brick Georgian townhouses.

Just a stone’s throw from the residence are the streets of Pride Hill and Mardol, where a range of local amenities can be found. Just around the corner too is the Town Square, High Street, as well as cobbled, winding alleys filled with popular food venues, eclectic bars and a vibrant café culture.

Just a short walk away from the bustling market town, there are also so many beautiful green spaces to enjoy, including Quarry Park, where the Shrewsbury art and festival scene thrives, the river towpath and the riverside garden. Heading outside of the town, you can enjoy exploring the delights of Attingham Park, Hawkstone Park Follies and Ironbridge.

So if you’re looking for a personalised student experience that cannot be matched - where you can learn first-hand from experienced and esteemed lecturers, all within an original and exciting environment - come and have a look around University Centre Shrewsbury.

Our Open Day takes place on Saturday 22nd October and we run regular campus tours so that our visitors can take a good look at all we are proud to offer.
