Top Tips for Applying Through Clearing

Whatever your reason, Clearing gives you the opportunity to apply for a place on an alternative course or at another University. To help make your Clearing experience as stress free as possible, why not take a look at these top tips for applying to Chester through Clearing:

1) Log in to Track

If you’re in Clearing, your Clearing number will be displayed on Track. If your offer is still showing as Conditional, you should contact the University concerned to find out why this is. If you applied for a place at Chester, but didn’t quite make the grades, then contact us. We may be able to reconsider your place, or offer you an alternative place on a different course.

2) Take a look at our Course Vacancies

You can view all of our available courses on our website. Before you call, read through the different course profiles to see if there is anything that suits you. Your college, school or careers office will be able to help.

3) Contact us for a place

Once you’ve decided on the course that you would like to study then give us a call, and we’ll see if we are able to offer you a place. To do this telephone 0808 1642710, or email clearing@chester.ac.uk. Make sure you have your results and UCAS Personnel ID/ Applicant Number to hand.

4) Lines busy? Don’t give up!

Clearing is a very busy time, so if we are not able to answer your call you will be placed in a queue. Our Clearing advisors will do everything they can to answer all of the calls as quickly as possible, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long.

5) Different options

If we are unable to offer you a place on your chosen course, we may be able to offer you a place on a similar course. However remember, this will determine the next three years of your life, so don’t make any hasty decisions. It’s important that you pick the right option for you! Familiarizing yourself with different courses before you call will help make this decision a lot easier.

6) Accept your place

Once we have offered you a place, log in to Track and ‘Add Clearing choice.’ You will need to fill in the course details by the deadline that was given to you on the phone. By doing this, you are definitely accepting the offer. Once we confirm, it will show as an acceptance on the choices page of Track. You will then receive a confirmation letter in the post.

7) Visit us

If you haven’t already visited the University of Chester, or you want to take another look, then come along to one of our Campus Tours. You can book your place on one of our tours now

8) Don’t forget Student Finance!

9) Applying for accommodation
