What next in 2016?

Happy new year to you all!

Looking back at 2015, when it comes to deciding which university is best for you, it’s more than likely that you've already put in a fair amount of time and energy into making this decision. You may have attended your local UCAS higher education convention, spoken to various peer mentors and advisors, narrowed down your choice of courses and universities that deliver these courses, attended several Open Days and hopefully applied. It’s important, with 2016 now upon us, that you don’t lose this momentum and that you continue to vigorously research your options and find out what’s best for you.

Over the following months you’ll need to make a number of important decisions that’ll shape the next few years of your life. To make sure you know exactly what to do and when to do it, here’s our brief guide to you what you should do next.

It’s time to apply!

If you haven’t already applied, it’s time to make your decision.

At 6pm on January 15th, applications for the majority of courses should arrive at UCAS. You’ll find detailed information on how to apply on our website. However, if you don’t think you’ll have your application in on time, don’t panic! Many universities accept applications after this date (it’s best to double check with the university to make sure).

Once you’ve completed your application you should start to receive some decisions.

Visit us

If you’re offered a place to study at the University of Chester you’ll be invited to an Applicant Day (or an Interview Day, depending on your course). Whilst you may have already visited us, it's definitely worth making another visit so you can be certain you're making the right decision for you.

Similar to Open Days, Applicant Days are a great opportunity to discover more about us by taking a tour of the campus, viewing accommodation, and finding out more about your course.

If you’ve already received an offer from us you can book your Applicant Day now.

Responding to your offers

Once you've heard back from all of your choices it's time to start thinking about responding to your offers.

If you've enjoyed sampling the Chester experience and are now eagerly anticipating starting in Spetember, you can head to UCAS Track to accept your offer.  We’ve outlined the process for accepting your offer on our website.

It’s important that you respond to your offers before the deadline. To keep up-to-date with your offers and the deadline for accepting, take a look at UCAS Track.

Student Finance and Funding

If you require financial support whilst at university, then don’t forget to apply for Student Finance. Applications open in February, so keep an eye on the Student Finance website.

It’s vital that you get your application in before the deadline in May to ensure you receive your student finance in time for the start of term.

Further information on the various financial support packages available to you can be found on the Finance section of our website.

Apply for Accommodation

Applications for our University accommodation open in March. Whilst applications are not processed on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis, it’s important that you submit all the necessary information before the deadline. You'll recieve further information on applying for accommodation and the exact deadline in the following months.

There are lots of different types of accommodation on offer. Take a look at our accommodation pages to find out more.
