When deciding what university is right for you, HE (Higher Education) Fairs are a great place to start! With representatives from a whole range of different universities all located under one roof, it’s the perfect opportunity to find out what’s on offer and to put your questions to the people who know best.
To ensure you make the most of your HE Fair experience, take a look at our guide below for some useful tips.
What are they?
HE Fairs provide you with an important research opportunity to discover the many Higher Education opportunities available to you. As part of the day, you’ll have the chance to pick up information leaflets, speak to university representatives and sit in on useful talks about university and the application process.
Each stand will have their own prospectus and there will be many freebies on the day, so don’t forget to bring a strong bag to put them all in!
Useful tip: With so many universities available it can often feel a little daunting, so it’s important to prepare before you arrive.
What to ask?
As much as you might be tempted to grab a prospectus and run, the best way to truly get the most out of any HE Fair is to ask questions. The more questions you ask, the more knowledgeable you’ll be when picking your options. Believe me, you’ll thank yourself later!
There’s no definitive list of questions you should ask, but try and find out things that may be of interest to you, such as; what are the teaching facilities like, what kind of clubs and societies are available, how far the campus is from the city centre, what support services are in place, and what campus life is really like.
Useful tip: Remember to bring your ticket. When you find a university that you’d like more information on get your ticket scanned so that they can stay in touch.
