There are a lot of new experiences involved in going to University; new friends, new surroundings, new lessons, new clubs and societies, new accommodation, new pencil case… there’s loads! However, one thing that’s useful to keep the same, or if you’re new to it – start, is budgeting.
If you start planning and budgeting early, it’s something that’s only going to become more and more useful throughout life. That’s why we’ve put together our top ten tips for budgeting at university.

Our Open Days are a great opportunity to really see what it's like to study your chosen course and experience student life at Chester. With opportunities to take part in subject sessions, campus tours, visit student accommodation and much more, how do you make sure you get the most out of your day? Luckily, one of our current 2nd year students, Chris Oliver, explains his top tips for Open Days, based on when he was applying to universities a couple of years ago.
Wednesday 13th May
The University of Chester Open Day is the best chance you’ll get to explore how and where you will experience your life as a University student, and coming to you as a fellow Chester student, I can promise it is an invaluable day! An Open Day gives you the opportunity to explore the campus you will be studying at, as well as visiting academic departments and getting to know the area. You’ll have the chance to see our top notch facilities, and even attend subject sessions to see what could be covered in your first year at University. From libraries to canteens to lecture theatres, all will be discovered.

Whilst at university your life will be consumed by books, no matter what your subject. And believe us, these books don’t come cheap! So let us help you out a little.
As a welcome gift to you, we are arranging for all 2015 first-year (Level 4) full-time undergraduates to receive a handful of key course texts at no extra cost.

If you’ve selected Chester as either your Firm or Insurance choice, you might be wondering about the process for applying for accommodation. Well, applications for University owned and partnership accommodation are now open. You should soon be receiving information through the post about our online application process. As soon as you’ve received these details you can then start to apply online.
