Thornton Science Park

Formerly the Shell Technology Centre, Thornton Science Park is a state-of-the-art facility that houses our Faculty of Science and Engineering, including the School of Computer Science and Mathematics.

Located just outside of Chester, a free shuttle bus is provided to transport students. All residential students whose courses are based at Thornton are housed on or close to the Parkgate Road Campus.

Thornton Science Park is a state-of-the-art facility providing innovative learning spaces; specialist facilities, donated to the University by Shell, are used for practical laboratory work, lectures and problem-based learning. 

As Thornton is a working science park, students are able to take advantage of working closely with on-site science and technology businesses.




Access to extensive library collections (both print and online), a range of study spaces and extensive computer facilities

Game Zone

Situated above the Thornton Library, the Games Zone comes equipped with the latest games consoles and large screen TVs.

IT Labs

Spread around the campus are various state of the art PC labs accessible to all students.

Thornton Catering

The Thornton campus has a large catering outlet that provide a wide range of freshly cooked meals with eat in and take away options


Offering flexible and student friendly memberships, our fully equipped Gym has personal trainer sessions and classes throughout the term.
